Workers Compensation Insurance
The Texas Workers Compensation system is insurance that covers workers who are thereby compensated for illnesses or injuries sustained at work or with work related activities. In certain situations the insurance company or the employer may not be liable for injuries.
These situations include:
- Injuries that are self-inflicted or are intentional.
- Injuries that are a result from employee's misbehavior from self intoxication.
- Any injury that may result from off-work activities.
- Any injury that may occur from someone else unrelated to work activities.
The Texas Workers Compensation limits the liability that the employer must take on according to a schedule of benefits that is in relation to the type of injury that is sustained. Benefits can include lifetime compensation for the treatment of injuries or illness caused at the work place.
Benefits also include disability income that can be established for a particular time frame and dollar amount. They can also have coverage for funeral expenses if the worker is killed on the job. Accordingly, the benefits may also go to surviving dependents on behalf of the worker that was injured on the job.
